Talks about how media can effect society or individuals.

Theories supporting the influence of violent media:

• Active/ passive audiences- Accept message VS contradict message
• Hypodermic Needle Theory- Inject ideas from media
• Cohen (Moral Panic 1972)- 'Folk Devils' certain people pose threats e.g hoodies
• Desensitisation- Loss of feeling
• Mulvey Male Gaze- Women viewed through a male lenses
• Anderson Media Violence On Youth- Violent media enables violent thoughts on children. other factors can affect aggression etc e.g- parenting, influence, mental health. No one is immune to the effects of media violence. If you know how to behave in society, there is less chance you will be a rebel- bad assumption.
