Explain three ways in which online technologies can be used to enhance traditional advertising methods?  One way would be social media, the upcoming film 'Wicked' uses above-the-line advertising on platforms such as tiktok to promote the film. These short videos with famous people in it such as Ariana Grande grabs the users attention, with key colours such as pink and green further reflected in the videos to symbolise 'wicked'. Another way would be coke cola using traditional methods such as TV adverts which is also above-the-line advertising to promote their campaigns such as the christmas one. This way of advertising greatly increases the audience reach since the advert can be placed on any channel. The third way of advertising would be pepsi using spotify to advertise their drink, this is also a traditional way of advertising since its audio. This reaches a vast majority of people since nearly everyone listens to music on spotify without premium. This is also above-t...

Film Audiences

Levi Strauss- binary opposition- a film needs to have opposing sides. Encanto- mainstream with a niche. Primary audience- children, Secondary- adults. BBFC needs a qualification to be granted cinema or DVD release. Get Out (15)- Is considered a 15 because its not that graphic, no nudity or exposure is there- only some bad language and blood which is seen all the time in that genre. The theme isn't that heavy and messed up unlike some movies which can be psychologically damaging to the viewer. Frozen (PG)- Is a PG instead of a U since PEGI believes that there is some mild violence within the film.

In Peeles 2017 film 'Get out' he juxtaposes genre conventions by using lighting in a conflicting way to create an enigma. In the first opening scene, the lampposts are the main source of light which highlights the long stretch of empty road alongside our protagonist. The protagonist is within the shadows, almost hidden with his dark outfit- making us question whether he is there to commit a crime due to stereotypes in film, since he is in an affluent suburb looking and acting out of place. In contrast, the eerie car that increases the tension in a negative ...

textual analysis theories

Narrative Theories: Levi- Strauss and binary opposition: Narrative tension is based around polar opposition. Could be two characters fighting or something else. (Can't have a functioning narrative without disagreement). Example: black vs white, boy vs girl, action vs inaction, strong vs weak, democracy vs dictatorship. Vladimir Propp- Propp theory: a story will always have a: hero, villain, dispatcher (sets hero off on the quest), donor (has a magical power/ object that will help in the quest), princess (prize for the hero), her father (rewards the hero), false hero (fake hero- is a liar), the helper (helps the hero along the way). Example: Harry Potter- Harry is the hero, Voldemort is the villain, Dumbledoor/ Hermione/ Ron could be the donors, Ginny Weasley could be considered the princess, Ginny's father is 'her father', Hagrid or Dumbledoor are the dispatchers, Dumbledoor/ Hagrid are the helpers as well as most of the other characters, Draco is the false hero pos...
